Thai MassageThai massage therapy is a combination of acupressure and yoga-like stretching techniques that employs the use of the therapist's fingers, thumbs, elbows, arms and feet on the body's muscles, pressure points and energy lines ("Sen") to clear energy blockages and balance the body's energy. The theoretical foundation of Thai massage is based on the concept of invisible energy lines running through the body called "Energy-Based Healing System".

Thai massage is believed to have been developed by Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha, physician to Buddha, more than 2,500 years ago in India. It made its way to Thailand, where the Ayurvedic techniques and principles gradually became influenced by traditional Chinese medicine.

Thai MassageThai massage is more energizing and rigorous than more classic forms of massage. Thai massage is also called Thai yoga massage, because the therapist uses his or her hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches. Many people say Thai massage is like doing yoga without any work.

Thai MassageThai Massage can be performed either on a massage table or a massage mattress. Loose-fitting, comfortable clothing is worn by the client at all times, and no creams or oils are used. People describe Thai massage as both relaxing and energizing.

The purpose of Thai massage is to bring the body, mind, and spirit into a state of balance and harmony, providing an opportunity for self-healing. Different from other forms of bodywork - smoothness, rhythm and flow are three words that come to mind.
